Macon-Bibb County voters approved the renewal of the Education Special Purpose Local Option
Sales Tax (ESPLOST) in 2019 by more than 75 percent. The ESPLOST is a one percent sales tax
used to improve security, facilities, technology and transportation for
Bibb County Public Schools, which benefits our students, teachers and entire community.
Upgrades and projects include:
Continued technology upgrades, including devices for each student
Security upgrades (secure vestibules, cameras and locking systems)
Renovation of Thompson Stadium including new turf, video scoreboard, additional parking and seating
Bus and vehicle purchases with air conditioning and safety features
Central Kitchen equipment upgrades
