Fort Valley State University
Juneteenth Celebration
On November 6, 1895, an interracial group of 15 black
men and 3 white men decided to build a school,
and together gave birth to what would become Fort
Valley State University.
Moses Davis was the only African American from Ft.
Valley to serve as a mechanic for the planes flown by
the 99 African American Airmen at Tuskegee.
Rudolph J. Carson became the first African
American Mayor of Ft. Valley, Ga in 1980.
