Magdalene Appointed by Huawei to Support
the Delivery of Next Generation Mobile
Internet Infrastructure
Three launched its 5G network in
August 2019 with the offer of 5G home
broadband in various districts of London.
It plans to extend its 5G coverage to a
further 24 towns and cities before the
end of 2019, with a full 5G product range
available, including: phone, SIM-only and
home broadband plans.
Magdalene is supporting the roll-out through
a programme of works that includes the
removal of existing 4G technology as well
as the installation of Huawei’s 4G and 5G
enabled network equipment. The work
is scheduled and managed with 3G and
4G outages split to maintain Three’s end
customer experience.
Thirty specialist engineers have been
appointed and trained by Magdalene to
support the delivery of the rollout programme.
Pre-installation visit (PIV) surveys began
in early August with installation works
commencing later the same month.
Sam Saunders, Operations Director, said:
“We are delighted to have secured this UK 5G
rollout project with Huawei. The recruitment
drive to support this major mobile project
has proved very successful, with a newly
appointed team of specialist engineers,
supported by a dedicated internal project
team, already in place.
“The team has designed and developed an
innovative approach to decommissioning,
installing and testing the new equipment
which is enabling a two-day completion of
each site. This approach has ensured that the
team is exceeding client expectations around
the number of completed installations being
delivered each week.”
