Colitis survivor from Morrison Telecom Services raises
awareness
Written by Ellie Baker, Defect Coordinator | Morrison Telecom Services
On Saturday 8 June I took part in a 10k
charity walk around London alongside
1,700 other people to raise money and
awareness for the Crohn’s and Colitis UK
charity.
In 2014 I was diagnosed with ulcerative
colitis. At a young age I wasn’t aware
of what ulcerative colitis was and how
it would change my life dramatically.
Last year I was hospitalised with a
severe flare up; I had to have two blood
transfusions and an iron transfusion and
was hospitalised for a week. I was lucky
enough to get better after three months
of recovery and return to work and
normality.
Following this experience, I really wanted
to raise awareness and raise money to
support the charity and say a huge thank
you. There are over 300,000 people
in the UK that live with either colitis or
Crohn’s disease and some people are not
aware this charity exists.
I was lucky enough to raise just under
£400 and I would love to say a huge
thank you to those who contributed. I
hope I have spread awareness!
