Volunteers at the Milton Hospice
Contract Insight - Cambridgeshire
In June 2023, taking advantage of the
warmer weather, the team volunteered
for East Anglia Children9s Hospice
(EACH) to renovate an outdoor area for
their Milton centre. The Milton Hospice is
one of the charity9s three locations that
provides safe, effective, and responsive
care. Volunteers ranged from Directors
to Apprentices and, together, they
carried out a variety of projects to give
some much-needed improvements to
the gardens. Painting, clearing
weeds, general maintenance and
tidying of the overall space were key
to ensuring the area is perfect for the
children and their families to enjoy.
Since the team9s first fundraising
event in March 2023, we have
raised a grand total of £5,344.54 for
the charity.
Integrated into the contract is a Social Value Fund. People who work with the
contract are invited to submit bids for good causes that are not currently covered by
existing budgets, but have SV benefits. Principally these centre around: Jobs,
Growth, Environment, Innovation and Social improvements generated through the
contract9s activities. Funding is allocated each year from a panel who review and
score the submissions. Typically, successful projects may receive up to £10k in
funding depending on the scope and scale of impact. Successful good causes are
due to be announced in the near future.
