Contract Insight - Devon
Devon Highways established a collaborative approach in creating a localised
SV Plan, including suitable governance and shared responsibility in the delivery
of SV for communities across the county. It was through a dedication to spend
locally with Small, Medium Enterprises (SMEs), employing locally, and
establishing relationships with three local charities that we were able to achieve
a substantial monetised SV impact.
Notable achievements include:
£1,400 was raised in cash for
Balloons, North Devon Hospice,
and Force (Cancer Charity) with
over 40 Devon Highways employees
completing a charity 40mile bike ride
in the summer.
10 Apprentices recruited.
2 Care Leavers employed.
Donations to local food banks.
Traffic management provided for
Coronation events.
Established relationships with key
colleges and schools directly in areas
of relative deprivation and rurality.
