The Sigma Chapter of the Delta Zeta sorority has put on the Miss LSU pageant
since 1998. The group uses the pageant to raise money for speech and
hearing charities, like The Starkey Hearing Foundation and St. Lillian Academy,
a local school for children with communication and learning challenges. The
2023 Miss LSU pageant was held on March 26 in the LSU Student Union Theater.
After dozens of contestants competed in the rounds, mass communication
major Ivy Robichaux took home the crown. As Miss LSU 2023, Robichaux
looks forward to representing the university and attending as many events
as possible. Already a member of the Phi Mu sorority, an LSU bat girl and
player on the women’s ultimate frisbee team, Robichaux hopes to become
more involved on campus and meet new people. For her special initiative,
Robichaux wants to spread awareness and increase education to keep the
LSU family safe. She is working with LSU PD to organize self-defense classes for
student organizations on campus. When asked about the one thing she wishes
people knew about pageants, Robichaux said, “A pageant, and the Miss LSU
pageant in particular, is more than finding a ‘pretty face.’ It’s a celebration of
talented, determined, ambitious and intelligent students wanting to make a
difference.”
