SG DRAG SHOW
LSU has an annual drag show each Homecoming week, but this year,
Student Government brought double the fun and hosted another drag
night in January. SG’s drag night was held on Thursday, Jan. 26, 2023, with
the stated purpose of promoting inclusivity on campus and providing
entertainment to students. Three drag queens performed solo and group
numbers inside the LSU Student Union’s Royal Cotillion Ballroom. Amid
several costume changes, Santana A. Savage adorned a striking money
suit, London Manchester donned a pretty purple leotard and Lady D.
Andrews bedecked herself in pink feathers. The performances included
passionate lip-syncing and inspired choreography accompanied by
lots of audience involvement. Students recorded the performances and
tipped the talent. They waved their cell phone flashlights and created
drumrolls by beating their hands on the floor. Some students even
got to try their hand at confidently commanding a runway in London
Manchester’s “Sissy That Walk” contest, a phrase coming from “RuPaul’s
Drag Race.”
