In 1945, while disassembling a war shell, the projectile exploded in his hands. Later on, he was introduced to para table tennis, and aerwards, he
competed in regional, national and international
competitions in the sport. He won gold at the 1976
Toronto Paralympics, but due to political relations,
his medal was taken away, until rehabilitated by
the
Hungarian
Paralympic
Committee
in
2016.
With this achievement, Zoltán Tauber became the
first
Paralympic
champion
in
Hungary’s
history.
