Amarilla Veres
Paralympic and European champion wheelchair fencer, youth world champion
Amarilla Veres was born in 1993 at Békéscsaba, Hungary, paralysed on her le side.
She started fencing at the age of 13, among non disabled competitors back then.
Later it became clear that she would not be able to keep following the training programme due to her disability, so she became a fencing coach. She worked as an
assistant coach, then she tried out wheelchair fencing and soon started competing in
international competitions. In 2016, she returned home from her first Paralympics in
Rio as a bronze medallist. Apart from sports, she also devoted great attention to her
academic studies. She studied sports management at the University of Nyíregyháza.
