Our association works on developing a support system for talented and successful
athletes, hence ensuring the preparation of athletes and the appropriate support
framework for coaches and sports associations.
2021
In 2021, FODISZ launched its Talent Support Programme to foster sports talents. e programme can
serve as foundation for our Competitive Sports Association’s plans to ensure expansive youth recruitment. Currently, we are tracking the development of 108 young people in 12 sports clubs, however,
due to the peculiarity of disabled sports, athletes who acquired disabilities in adulthood can also join
the programme.
At present, 32 sports clubs and 350 athletes are registered with the Competitive Sports Association. We
have a national team in two sports: chess (visually impaired persons) and frame running. In 2022, our
frame running competitors returned home from the World Para Athletics with one gold, two silver and
one bronze medal. e national team of visually impaired chess players is currently in 8th place in the
world rankings. Our biggest success was the team gold medal at the IBSA World Games.
As family is the foundation and support for our daily lives, sports and the experiences they offer form the
basis of belonging to a community and our existence in society.
