e amendment of the Sports Act of 2016 put parasports in an advantageous position. When
the Hungarian Paralympic Committee became a statutory public body, the strategic management of sports for the disabled became more transparent. Supporting parasports professionally and financially is important. As a result of the hard work in recent years, Hungarian
para-athletes can showcase their talent in an increasing number of sports.
At the competitions of the Hungarian Deaf Sport Federation, the Special
Olympics Hungary organisation, the Hungarian Transplant Federation,
the
National
Association
of
Student,
Competitive
and
Recreational
Sports for People with Disabilities and the Hungarian Paralympic Committee, nearly 20,000 disabled athletes compete in more than 100 events.
e Government of Hungary strongly supports athletes with disabilities
and their professional organisations: it is supporting Paralympic ath-

letes in their preparation for competitions to an increasing degree, which
greatly contributes to the success of our para-athletes.
