MESSAGE FROM THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Dear Friends of the Let Freedom Ring Foundation
We are excited to announce the Foundation’s five-year Strategic Plan, a transformative and
sustainable plan for the future. The Plan will ensure that we seek, find and take every possible
opportunity to engage our partners and community in uncovering history and presenting a more
complete story of the people who lived, worked, and worshipped in Williamsburg. We will lead
the nation by serving as an example of what can be done when a community works together.
Central to our Plan will be the implementation of a five-year strategy to research and present
facts that are guaranteed to change the understanding that we all have been taught to believe
about the absence and or presence of many Americans in the story of our country. The
Foundation will work with our partners to deliver educational programs at locations throughout
the historic area and all along the African American Heritage Trail that highlight an inclusive
story of all of the people that were involved in building the city of Williamsburg.
One of the key factors supporting the success of the Plan is the fact that our organization is
collaborating with other community partners to focus on developing a brighter future. We want
everyone to be able to see themselves in the American story. We will ensure that we have the
financial resources that we need to support our programming and that we are responsible
stewards of our artifacts. We will manage our people and our systems effectively and efficiently
in order to grow and sustain the Foundation. We will develop ways to measure and report on
our work to our stakeholders on a quarterly basis. The approved Strategic Plan will be used as
a basis for program planning and preparing annual budget estimates for the Foundation that
will allow us to fulfill our mission.
We greatly appreciate your support and look forward to working with you as we continue to
make history every day.
