Want to work in adult social care?
There are three routes into the sector:
ROUTE 1: THE Care Academy is
recruiTng people aged 18Hplus who are
interested in starTng a career in adult
social care in County Durham…
This is a fastHtrack recruitment and
training programme aimed at those with
the potenTal to work in the adult health
and social care sector.
The Academy is recruiTng to three key
roles: care workers, kitchen assistants,
and domesTc assistants. The applicaTon
form is online and, once training needs
are assessed, you will be directed to a
range of short modules that can be
completed remotely.
An enhanced DBS check will also be
provided free of charge.

ROUTE 2: THE Routeway into adult social
care prepares applicants for any role
within adult social care.
The qualiIcaTon is suitable for those
who are looking to work in, or widen
their knowledge of, the adult social care
sector.
The course includes:
• Level 1 – Preparing to work in adult
social care, covering employability,
interview skills and preparaTon for
work
• Level 2 – Food safety
• Emergency Irst aid and manual
handling
• Elements of the care cerTIcate
• Enhanced DBS check
• Guaranteed interview with an adult
social care provider
There are no exams – just assessments.

ROUTE 3: Personal Assistant (PA)
inducTon training o6ers an extremely
varied career path. You’ll be employed
directly by an individual who is
managing and paying for their own care.
QualiIcaTons aren’t necessarily required
but the important qualiTes employers
look for are kindness, compassion, and
thoughulness.
The course covers: safeguarding,
infecTon control, Level 2 food safety,
emergency Irst aid and a free enhanced
DBS check.
