Lesley led the longitudinal Toxin Study at GOSH from 2016-2022 which explored the use of Botulinum Toxin
A treatment for children and young people with cerebral palsy. This research was part of Lesley9s NIHR
funded Clinical Doctoral Research Fellowship, and the study formed part of her PhD which she was awarded
from UCL in October 2022.
Following completion of her PhD, Lesley has returned to clinical academic work and has been appointed
Consultant Physiotherapist in Paediatric Neurodisability at GOSH. She also holds an Honorary Clinical
Lecturer post at UCL and regularly lectures on the Neurology Postgraduate Physiotherapy Master9s
programme. Lesley continues to work clinically in the field of neurodisability and academically supervises a
number of AHP Master9s students, mentors a PCAF student and is clinical academic supervisor to an NIHR
doctoral student. She is lead clinical academic physiotherapist for paediatric neurodisability and is a member
of the Junior BRC faculty.
Lesley is co-applicant and site PI for two NIHR HTA funded Randomised Controlled Trials SPELL
(https://spell-study.org) which compares a stretching programme for children with cerebral palsy with usual
care and ROBUST (https://robust-study.org) which compares a strengthening programme for young people
with cerebral palsy with usual care. She is also a member of the research team involved with the Upstaza
(eladocagene exuparvovec) trial at GOSH which is an NHS England funded gene therapy trial for children
with Aromatic L-amino acid decarboxylase deficiency (AADCd).

Lesley is currently part of an expert panel invited to contribute to a national NHS England consultation on
the Use of Botulinum Toxin treatment in cerebral palsy Getting it Right First Time (GIRFT). She is also on
