normal cells) using three DNA markers. We want to see if the presence of these markers is enough or if the
markers have to reach a certain level for the disease to come back.
2) The secondary objective is to compare results for peripheral blood and bone marrow to see if blood
analysis alone can indicate early relapse, leading to a reduction of bone marrow samples being taken and a
reduction in the number of hospital stays and costs.
3) The third objective is to develop a riskstratification framework guiding proactive therapeutic interventions.
Based on the results a framework will be developed to provide future guidance to doctors who treat JMML
patients nationally.
Project Updates
I have completed the first year of the NIHR DCAF fellowship. This included developing and validating
the digital droplet PCR method for microchimerism analysis. All patient samples (retrospective cohort)
have now been processed for chimerism and microchimerism analysis. I9m currently in the process of
analysing the data and provide the first statistically relevant findings. I have enrolled on the BBTS Stem
Cell Transplantation Science course as part of my formal study for the DCAF fellowship.
