MONTH 4 | BUILDING CONNECTIONS AND
EXPANDING NETWORKS
Month 4 Goal: Mentor equips the mentee with networking
strategies, resources, and connections to achieve short-term goals
and expand their professional network.
Activity: Mentor provides resources and guidance to help mentee achieve
their short-term goals, including strategies for effective networking within the
public transportation industry. Mentor facilitates introductions to at least
two industry professionals, and mentee applies these strategies by attending
a networking event, later reflecting on their experience and new connections.
Outcome: Mentee expands their professional network and learns how to build
connections.
Mentee
Submit a summary of one action that
has been taken to meet a short-term
goal in the IDP.
Prepare a list of networking goals and
questions (see example) to discuss
with the mentor.
Research the two industry
professionals introduced by the
mentor and prepare for follow-up
interactions.
Meet with mentor to learn networking
strategies and receive introductions.
Attend a networking event, actively
engaging with attendees and practicing
the strategies shared by the mentor.
Reflect on the event experience and
submit a report (use this format)
summarizing key takeaways, new
connections, and areas for
improvement.
Schedule the next meeting.

recommended trainings, resources, or
advice on relevant organizations to
engage with.
Introduce the mentee to at least two
relevant industry professionals. Use
