Vie Portland
Vie Portland is an award-winning confidence
coach for children, young people, and women;
an author of inclusive children’s picture books,
and positive growth books for adults; an
accredited trainer, with a speciality of teaching
those who work with children and young
people how to create kinder and more
confident environments; and a Different Not
Less motivational speaker.
Lottie Thomson is an illustrator based in
Nottinghamshire in the heart of England,
specialising in children’s illustrations full of
diverse and whimsical characters.
Vie’s latest book is all about encouraging
kindness and confidence in children (and the
older readers). There’s suggestions, singing,
and silliness, and lots and lots of fabulous-ness!
The book will be illustrated by the very talented
Lottie Thomson. Vie and Lottie are both
passionate about body positivity and inclusion,
as both have lots of lived experience in these
topics, so there will be characters in the book
who have disabilities, both hidden and visible,
neurodivergence, as well as non-disabled
children. But, as in Vie’s previous children’s
books, the disabilities aren’t part of the story
(though there will be information at the back of
the book on them all), as she wants readers to
see that we all have far more in common than
that which makes us different.
This book will be funded through a
Crowdfunder campaign, and all support is very
much
appreciated.
