Tell us a bit about Mad About Money and why
you started it.
I started the Mad About Money app after my
business went under in 2022, I had been
speaking about money with my personal brand
for over 8 years, and I had started to talk about
my money tips on TikTok, I knew there was
never a certainty that I could rely on just one
social media platform so I built my own to
support neurodivergents with money.
Mad About Money app is the money app for
neurodivergents, we are neuro-inclusive though
so it doesn't matter if you don't identify as
Neurodivergent. We want Mad About Money to
be the go to place for neurodivergents to hang
out and get support. Its not just about money ,
its about all areas of your life that lead back to
your money. We currently have over 8,000
users and some amazing testimonials in the
app, we want people to be coming in there just
to chat and hang out, its not addictive like other
social platforms, and you are not bombarded
with ads. We are looking to raise investment in
the next year to grow something really special!
1 in 4 neurodivergents say they are not
confident managing money or they often
impulse spend, I want to help to change this
story.
I was in £40,000 of debt in my 20's then
another £35,000 of debt in my late 30's after
my business went under. I had undiagnosed
neurodivergent
conditions
which
really
impacted my money journey. But I got myself
out of debt, I focussed and i learned how to do
it, now I teach others to do the same.
My business failing was the worst time of my
life, I had a nervous breakdown. And I had to
tell all my investors and shareholders that had
lost their money. I did everything I could do to
save it but carrying on would have added to my
already wracked up £35,000 of debt and I just
couldn't do it. I faced a lot of judgement and
people didn't want me to succeed after that.
But I didn't come this far just to come this far. I
know that I still my integrity and I built
something new and better. Failure is not the
end, learn from it and it can be the route to
success.
