If you had three wishes, what would they be?
If I had three wishes for my business, it would be that I was
blessed enough financially so I could be a blessing to others. If this
were the case I would do the following three things:
1. Hire the staff I need to be able to implement all of my business
ideas and expand it so it would have a global impact.
2. I would develop an Intercultural Development and Social Justice
Leadership Academy
3. I would provide scholarships for Black students and other
traditional marginalized groups to gain DEI leadership skills and
experiences by attending conferences, and workshops who
wouldn't otherwise have an opportunity to take advantage of
these things.
With all you’ve faced and all you’ve accomplished - what really
motivates you?
The external element that motivates me are my three grandsons.
Having black male grandson who are ages three, nine, and
nineteen causes me to have great concern for the safety and
wellbeing because black males are regular targets of senseless
discrimination, harassment, violence, due to stereotypes and racial
profiling. Each day I dedicate myself to making the world a better
place for them to live, and work to make Dr. King's dream a reality
so they will be judged by the content of their character instead of
the color of their skin. I want that to be my legacy.
Also my faith is a key motivator in my life and the guiding light
that keeps me moving forward championing justice and an
equitable society where everyone is valued; thriving being their
authentic selves.
