What’s the change you’re looking to make?
I said in one of my books that "There are some
things we can’t ignore. Racism is one of them.
If you ignore the realities of racism, you are
actively
participating
in
perpetuating
its
continued existence. However, optical allyship
and performative activism is not adequate.
Both terms refer to the illusion of commitment
to
supporting
the
Black
Lives
Matter
movement and other diversity, equity, and
inclusion efforts. This is the major problem
that I see that I am trying to address in my
work.
