No human has one characteristic.
Yeah, exactly. It's looking through that lens.
The world is a lot less safe for certain blends of
characteristics. The number of Black trans
women that get murdered just for living their
lives. I'm getting angry now. I need to calm down.
But yeah, I recognise my privilege that I can do
the Weird Pride thing and be me. And really
what I want is a society where everybody can.
If you look at the trans and non-binary
community, for instance, they are just trying to
live their lives and be accepted for who they are,
and they're much maligned by a tiny but very
vocal minority. And they really do need allies to
stand up for them and be on their side. That's a
cause I'm particularly passionate about.
Another thing I’d like to bring up, too, is it can
be very difficult to have people not understand
us. And I know, personally, that's something I
struggle with. If I feel I’m trying to get someone
to understand my perspective on something
and I don’t feel they are, I can keep repeating
myself. Especially if it’s something I’m
passionate about.
I think it's quite traumatic going through life
being misunderstood because of coming across
wrong when you're Autistic, and sometimes
there's a disconnect between your intentions and
how you come across. So you're trying to
overcompensate and giving way too much detail,
really pushing the point because you're
committed to not being misunderstood. But you
can end up coming across really overbearing and
unnecessary. You just need to chill out.
Yeah. It's hard, and I think, too, when you're in
that social context, it's very easy to
misunderstand something. You read the words
in a way that you read them and not necessarily
in the context of how they were written. I
should do more of that. I can do live video
like this interview easier most of time
because they're so easier for me to just jump
on and I don’t worry about having to be
