WE ROAR Issue 02 - Flipbook - Page 82
CJ DeBarra
is a queer Irish, non-binary journalist. They
were diagnosed as ADHD in 1996 in rural
West Cork.
Hitting their mid-thirties and still uncertain
about relationships, sex, and love, CJ DeBarra
launched into a quest for understanding.
Growing up in West Cork, Ireland, CJ knew
they were ADHD, but its implications
remained mysterious.
In their book, CJ sheds light on alarmingly low
diagnosis rates for women, transgender
individuals, and non-binary individuals, urging
readers to advocate for improved healthcare.
Join CJ on a voyage of self-discovery, where
vulnerability, courage, and unwavering
determination unravel the mysteries of
relationships, sex, and love for ADHD
individuals and their loved ones.
CJ DeBarra: "I'm very proud to see my book
coming to life. So little is available for ADHD
adults, especially around love, sexuality, and
relationships. I grew tired of seeing straight
relationships and cisgendered people reflected
in every study. It's time we recognised the
high percentage of ADHD people who are
transgender, queer, or non-binary.”
