Hi Puneet, you’re known for being a
great advocate in the disability space.
Can you tell us a bit about yourself, your
background and your work:
My name is Puneet Singh Singhal, and I
am from New Delhi, India. I am a person
with an undiagnosed learning disability
and stammering. I see my life as the
intersection of poverty, domestic violence,
and multiple non-visible disabilities. I am
a disability activist advocating for a more
inclusive and accessible society for people
with different, distinct, visible, and nonvisible disabilities. I founded a non-profit,
SSStart, to normalise speech and
communication disabilities. I am part of
organisations like NASA, Diversability,
IUCN
CEC,
HundreED.org
and
NeuroGifted.
As a little child in New Delhi, life was
beautiful. When I started schooling,
learning English and Hindi alphabets,
mathematics, and drawing was so much
fun. I used to recite prayers and sing the
national anthem in the school assembly.
In classes, I was the one who read the
mathematics table aloud as my
classmates repeated after me.
But then everything changed when I
witnessed violence among adults for the
first time. I felt wounded and yet so
