WE ROAR Issue 02 - Flipbook - Page 56
It’s helpful being an actor because you are in else's
shoes and portraying other character roles. There are
two acting industries - one for musical theatre and
one for screen acting. You must try them and see
which one you enjoy and love doing. The one I
enjoyed working on the most was screen acting.
My legacy is that anyone can do things if they put
their mind to it. Also, to show that learning-disabled
people like me are brilliant at their work. That we
shouldn't be singled out just because we are learning
disabled. The same goes for any marginalised group;
we should be treated equally, and our disabilities
shouldn't be used against us. So, my legacy would be
to inspire others.
If there is one thing I’d want others to know about
the acting industry, it’s that being an actor is not
always easy, but to not never give up hope. Keep a
positive mindset even if it gets tough and you hardly
get the roles. Remember, thousands of other actors
are applying and auditioning for the same roles, so
you keep fighting until there’s a light at the end of the
tunnel.
The other advice I’d give is to ignore trolls and bullies.
I was the main target, but ignoring them has worked
wonders. The last thing I’d say is to keep fighting for
what you believe in and where you want to be in life
and your career. Never give up hope. Be yourself.
I hope you have a positive mindset.
We couldn’t agree more, Natascha!
