6. Remove or change the emotion
This one may take some time to get to
grips with, yet it is powerful when you
do. Try to remove the emotion from
any situation, event, memory, etc.
Think about it only in facts and not in
good or bad, sad or happy, scared or
safe. This lets you assess situations
more logically and see them more
clearly.
When you find yourself in a stressful,
anxious or overwhelming situation,
pause, breathe and try to remove
yourself from the situation. Remember
that what you feel is a response to
your thoughts. It may be difficult amid
a stressful or overwhelming problem.
Yet, it’s important to do so that you can
properly and calmly assess the
situation and why you’re feeling your
feelings at that time. You’ll then be able
to reframe your emotions and
eventually learn to change them.
