WE ROAR Issue 02 - Flipbook - Page 19
You take emotional well-being very
seriously. What makes you so passionate
about it, and why do you feel others should
be passionate about it, too?
My main driver is its role in my life and how I
struggled with it as a young Black male.
Suppressing my emotions ended with me
struggling, and as I’ve gotten better at
expressing them in healthy ways and learning
more, they have become easier to regulate
and have played a role in my resilience and
growth. Being emotional can no longer be a
dirty word or seen as a weakness for men or
women. Having the full spectrum of emotions
is a vital part of the human experience, and
we all need to embrace that and empower
others to do the same.
