Regarding my weaknesses, I’m a bit
naive and can be easily taken
advantage of, and I had no stranger
danger when I was a child. I’m also
not the best at time management
and
organisation,
which
can
occasionally lead to me being very
close to the limits of being late
without the typical urgency many
people feel. Finally, I’m very caring
and interested in other people, but I
don’t always reciprocate that for
myself.

What was your first hire like?
My first hire feels like a lifetime ago.
In 2010, with the business growing
at speed, I hired Ben, part-time and
straight from university, to support
our e-commerce function. He took
quite a risk by joining us instead of a
corporate grad scheme, but it turned
out to be an inspired choice, as his
skills complimented and covered
some of my strengths and
weaknesses, and he worked his way
into leadership during his seven
years with us.
