KURONO TOKYO
Born 1965 Chigasaki City, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan and having graduated from
the Tokyo University of the Arts, Undergraduate School of Fine Art, Design Department
in 1990 - Hajime Asaoka established the Hajime Asaoka Design Office in 1992.
He began his watchmaking journey in 1997, taking inspiration from traditional
handmade practices whilst incorporating his own unique perspective of refinement
and modernit y and by 2011, made his debut as Japan’s first independent
watchmaker. Now, acclaimed as one of the world’s top-independent watchmakers,
Hajime Asaoka has successfully bir thed a watchmaking philosophy that is both
distinctively Japanese, and unquestionably him.
