Urushi has been used as a lacquer in Japan for more than
10,000 years. With only 200 grams of sap harvested at any one
time, this extremely valuable and increasingly rare property
can only be applied by a true Master-level Urushi Craftsman.
Today, only a handful still practice this art in Japan.
