BROADWAY REACHLocal Students Shinein the Spotlight!Five accomplished arts educators at four Palm BeachCounty public schools conducted a series of 10 workshopsessions exploring the content and themes of Peter Panthe Musical with revised book by Larissa Fasthorse. Theseworkshops culminated in student performances andexhibition in the Dreyfoos Hall lobby prior to the February15 matinee of Peter Pan the Musical. The event featuredchoral performances by Palm Springs Community MiddleSchool and Spanish River Community High School singers,a dance performance by The Conservatory School dancersand a visual art exhibit by U.B. Kinsey/Palmview ElementarySchool of the Arts artists.Following their presentations, the 150 participatingstudents and chaperones took their seats in Dreyfoos Hallto enjoy the 2pm performance and participated in a postperformance discussion with members of the cast andcrew. The lively talk examined the show's themes and socialcommentary, representation, the creative process behindthe production, the challenges of performing on tour andpersonal connections students had to the story.The program is internally evaluated by an independentconsulting group. The evaluation assesses academic andarts student learning through participation in BroadwayReach workshops and performances.Art students from U.B.
