Conclusion
Puhh...
The time I spent on this project has taught me a lot about
myself, the environment and its entanglement, collaboration with people and nature, time, space, living and
non-living entities, 昀椀re, material interfaces, overcoming
disgust, play and order, the circularity of material and
matter, about change, about the power of observation,
about the power of play, about the importance of expression, about the importance of failing, about adapting,
adopting, learning in alternative ways, about the exchange of knowledge, about letting loose of conventions,
about control and losing it, about imagination and reality,
about dreaming and grounding, about the good in this
world that can be found in every corner of this universe.
The project Biocharged has opened my eyes and heart
to follow my pursuit of acting in favour of nature. I know
I am a hypocrite saying this when I still use a car, fly, buy
my coffee from a hipster coffee shop, and buy things
online. But that is not what this is about. Biocharged is a
project that enabled me to 昀椀nd value in the groundedness of things, in the simolicity of material harvesting,
collecting, transforming, making and shaping in the 昀椀eld.
Using my hands, getting dirty, being in immediate and
unapologetically close contact with the materials around
me, observing them, touching, and smelling them has
changed me over the past months.

Biocharged is a material, a continuous research project,
and a vision for myself as a creator and maker and as
someone who wants to share the extraordinary wonder
about the intrinsicness and entanglement of the environment—of the ecology we are part of.
Biocharged is just at its beginning. I hope it will evolve
as I make material as well as through workshops and
communication. Many people are already working on
using biochar. in various applications to mitigate climate
change, sequester carbon and improve the imbalances in
this world.
The value I see in Biocharged is breaking conventions,
talking about uncomfortable topics, overcoming disgust
and being excited by the functional and aesthetical power this material and process can have.
I am excited to help Biocharged grow and spread
the importance of being more sentient, patient, and
open-hearted to be rewarded in an ecological entanglement in which we are so big and so small that it makes us
equally important with every stone, fly, and tree.
