Merlin helped the dogs onto the
dragon’s back and secured them in
place, tucking their wizard robes
around their legs. Merlin sat behind
them and asked the dragon to take
them across the sea in a southerly
direction.
The dragon opened its wings and
rose smoothly from the ground. Up
and up, they all went, until they
were high above the castle. The dogs
looked down at the people inside
the castle and waved to them. Some
people waved back as though seeing
wizard dogs flying on a dragon was
something that happened all the time.
