FOUNDATION COURSES - VOCATIONAL
BTEC LEVEL 2 award
The course will qualify you for a wide range of
jobs as you will develop transferable skills which
can be used in any one of the many businesses
on the south coast. Previous students have found
employment in areas as diverse as retail, leisure
and creative industries, although a growing
number are choosing to progress onto the next
stage with a Level 3 course. The course is suitable
for students considering continuing on to Business
at Level 3 BTEC or A level.

Introduction to business
Finance for business
Enterprise in the business world
Promoting a brand
The course is assessed by 75% coursework and
25% online assessment.

FILM PRODUCTION
CTEC Level 2 AWARD IN Media Production
This course is ideal if you want to understand
more about the Creative Media industry and how it
works, whilst developing your own creative ideas,
skills and abilities. Topics include:
• Researching the TV & Film industry and how it is
structured
• Developing ideas for moving image work
• Shooting and editing your own moving image
work
This is a 100% coursework course and therefore
assessment is continuous throughout the year. You
must be committed to regular attendance, meeting
strict coursework deadlines and working in groups.
You will also be required to travel independently
off-site without supervision for filming moving
image work.

Standard Foundation Level entry requirements

Prior successful experience of media or photography
education or a portfolio of still or moving images is essential.
CARING FOR CHILDREN
NCFE LEVEL 2 INTRODUCTORY Certificate
‘Introducing Caring for Children and Young People’
(Incorporating skills for working with young children
and awareness of parenting skills, safeguarding
and equalities and the importance of play).
This course is taught in one year and if you
are interested in working with children in the
future, then this could be the course for you. The
course covers: patterns of child development
(0-5), promoting children’s development through
play and aspects of protecting children in a safe
environment. An interest in children is essential.
The course is all coursework based and is good
preparation for those wishing to progress to a
Level 3 course and apprenticeships.

HEALTH AND SOCIAL CARE
BTEC First Award in Health and Social Care
This course is taught in one year and is equivalent
to one GCSE. If you are interested in working
within the health care sector in the future, then this
is a stepping stone to a fulfilling career. The course
covers a range of topics including: human lifespan
development, equality in the health and social care
sector, effective communication, food and nutrition.
An interest in the care sector is essential. The
course consists of one examined unit and three
pieces of coursework.
