“I chose the IB because the structure allowed me
to continue studying a broad range of subjects
and keep many options open. My preferred
subjects were Maths and Chemistry, but similarly
I wanted to continue studying German, but not
use up a full A Level. I have really enjoyed doing
all the coursework in the IB, which has allowed
me to delve deeper into the areas that have
specifically interested me. With my Extended
Essay, I investigated the causes of addiction from a
psychological perspective.
Alongside the IB, I completed the Carbon Literacy
qualification as part of the enrichment programme.
The qualification raised my awareness as to
what aspects of my daily life were positively and
negatively contributing to the environment,
Looking back at my time at Varndean, I have most
enjoyed the sense of community the College
provides. Within the IB I’ve made new and strong
friendships, to the extent where it feels like
a second family. I am now looking forward to
studying Osteopathy at Swansea University.”
