“On visiting Varndean College at one of its
Open Days, I really liked the atmosphere and
the tutors. I also preferred the combination
of topics studied within the subjects over
anywhere else. I chose to study History
and Classical Civilisation because I had
previously studied these subjects at GCSE
level and wanted to continue with them. I
added Textiles because it gave me a balance
of a creative subject alongside two essaybased subjects. I had never studied Textiles
previously so taking a new subject from
scratch was really fun.
For my enrichment activity, I chose first to
attend Creative Writing, which taught me
a lot about the mechanics and methods
of storytelling, followed by the Aspire
Programme which was incredibly helpful
with my university application. I received
assistance with my personal statement which
I was very grateful for.
I enjoyed meeting so many people and
making new friends whilst at Varndean
and I couldn’t have wished for my college
experience to have gone any differently. I am
now hoping to go to university to continue
my studies in Classical Civilisation.”
