FILM PRODUCTION
CTEC LEVEL 3 EXTENDED CERTIFICATE IN creative MEDIA
(equivalent to 1 A Level)
You will study filming and editing techniques,
working on a film set as a professional production
crew, choosing a career pathway and specialism,
studying how the industry is structured, creating
a professional showreel, and finding work as a
media practitioner.
Students will need to commit to completing
both years in order to achieve the qualification.
Assessment is continuous throughout the year. You
must be committed to regular attendance, working
in groups and meeting strict deadlines. You will
also be required to travel independently off site
without supervision for filming or recording project
work.

Standard Advanced Level entry requirements
ASSESSMENT
You will be assessed in a variety of ways: tutor observation,
portfolio work, research assignments, individual and group
work, and through working on project briefs.
ADVANCED LEVEL COURSES
Film Production (Creative Media Production) is
an exciting two-year course which provides the
knowledge and hands on experience for students
who have a keen interest in working in the creative
media industries. This course would particularly
suit you if you have a fascination with all the many
aspects of the Creative Media industry and how it
works, want to know how to produce professional
media artefacts and are keen to work following
industry processes, prefer to work on a modular
basis and your strength is in producing creative
and technical practical work, demonstrate a strong
personal interest and commitment to the subject
because much of the production work will need
to be completed outside of lesson hours, and are
considering a career in the Creative Media sector,
as you will work on projects and create a full
portfolio of work.
FILM STUDIES
A LEVEL
If you are enthusiastic about cinema and would like
to develop greater understanding and appreciation
of films and also acquire practical skills, then this
course is for you. You will study films from a variety
of eras and cultures such as Hollywood in the
1950s and 1960s, mainstream and independent
modern American filmmaking, British cinema and
also focus on non-English language films from
Europe and beyond.
You will also learn about a wide variety of film
forms including 1920s silent films, documentaries,
short films and experimental films. There is also a
practical coursework element (30% of the entire
course) with students given the opportunity to plan
and create a make a short film of their own.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Standard Advanced Level entry requirements.
ASSESSMENT
70% exam, 30% coursework
