“Being a young carer to a sibling throughout
my adolescent years, I knew I wanted to study
Education and Childcare and after researching
which colleges offered this course in my area,
immediately decided that Varndean College was
top of the list. I’d heard nothing but good reviews
about the college and after visiting at the open
day, instantly knew that Varndean was the place for
me. The Level 3 Education and Childcare course
was perfect, as I wanted to focus on this full-time
without having to study other subjects alongside.
You also got to undertake a weekly placement at
either a nursery or primary school.

ADVANCED LEVEL COURSES

I was very nervous for my interview, but all the staff
I spoke to on the day were very understanding of
this and immediately put me at ease. In fact, I have
received nothing but support throughout my entire
two years at Varndean. Being a full-time course also
meant I developed strong friendships with all the
class and we were all like a family.
During my course I particularly enjoyed being at
my placement and being able to take what I have
learnt in the classroom and putting it into real
practice. It provided me with huge experience
and I am now qualified to work in nurseries
and primary schools. However, I am now
hoping to go on to study at the famous
Norland College in Bath, where I can extend
my training to become one of the best
nannies in the world … the Royal Family
has a Norland nanny! Norland College
only accepts 100 new students each
year from worldwide and I therefore feel
very privileged to gain a place, and will
be forever grateful for the support I have
received from Varndean.”
