ADVANCED LEVEL COURSES
EDUCATION & CHILDCARE
(Early Years Specialism)
LEVEL 3 T LEVEL
This is a two-year technical course covering
core educational themes from birth to nineteen
years with specialist early years education and
care content from birth to seven years. This course
provides excellent opportunity for academic
study alongside practical experience. Successful
completion of the two years will enable students
to enter the workplace as a qualified practitioner
in roles such as nursery practitioner, teaching
assistant, nanny, holiday rep, and other related
employment. The academic skills you will develop
will provide a strong basis for university study
such as primary teaching, early childhood studies,
special needs education and other related
subjects.
Please note that this course is a stand-alone fulltime course and you cannot choose it alongside
other A levels.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Standard Advanced Level entry requirements, including
Grade 4 in GCSE Maths
You will also need a completed DBS certificate.
A commitment to hard work and a real interest in working with
children is essential.
ASSESSMENT
Written exams in both years, controlled assessments, projects
carried out in placement and successful completion of 750
hours in placement.
ENGINEERING *
CTEC LEVEL 3 EXTENDED CERTIFICATE
(equivalent to 1 A Level)
Electrical, Electronic and Mechanical Engineers;
Aerospace, Automotive and Nuclear Engineers;
Civil Engineers and Environmental Engineers.
What do they all have in common? They are all
engineers!
If you are interested in Engineering then this
course is for you! It is a modular course with a
mixture of exams and project work and if you
combine this with other suitable qualifications it
will allow you to progress to your dream career in
Engineering.
These are the five units that make up the Level 3
Extended Certificate:
UNIT 1: Principles of Engineering (Exam)
UNIT 2: Materials Science and Technology (Exam)
UNIT 3: Engineering in Practice (Practical/Portfolio)
UNIT 4: Computer-Aided Design (CAD) (Practical/
Portfolio)
UNIT 5: Electrical Devices and Circuits (Practical/
Portfolio)
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Standard Advanced Level entry requirements
Plus
Grade 5 or above in GCSE Maths
Grade 5/5 or above in GCSE Combined Science or a 5 in
Physics and a 5 in one other science
ASSESSMENT
60% coursework, 40% externally assessed units
