CLASSICAL CIVILISATION
A LEVEL
ADVANCED LEVEL COURSES
Classical Civilisation is the study of ancient Greek
and Roman cultures. The ultimate humanities
subject, it comprises a wide range of disciplines,
from literature to art and archaeology, to politics,
history and economics, mythology and philosophy.
You will study works of epic and lyrical poetry,
works of philosophy, tragedies, comedies, and
you will develop an understanding of how these
disciplines interrelate in order to think critically and
creatively about the foundations of Western culture
and society.
CHEMISTRY
A LEVEL
Why you would study Chemistry? Chemistry has
worldwide impact. As a fundamental physical
science, it has a lasting effecton our planet and will
be needed to help tackle the challenges society
faces in changes to environment, food security
andenergy supply. Almost every new technological
change andimportant discovery has its foundations
in Chemistry.
Many students progress to degree courses
in Classics. It is also excellent preparation for
degrees in Literature, History, Politics, Philosophy,
Law and Drama/Theatre Studies. It is widely
recognised as highly beneficial for a huge variety
of career paths, including journalism, banking,
politics, the creative arts, the fine art market, and
academia.
Each year we organise a trip to Rome or Athens.
There are also opportunities for visits to plays,
workshops and talks.

100% exam
Chemistry is the key to life and making the world
a better place in which to live. It provides the
basis for medicine, agriculture, food technology,
environmental science, forensic science and many
other fields.
Having a chemistry qualification is like having an
open flight ticket to any destination in the world!
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Standard Advanced Level entry requirements
Plus
Grade 6 in GCSE Chemistry and another Science GCSE
Or
2 x Grade 6 in GCSE Combined Science
Plus
Grade 6 in GCSE Maths
Students may also need to attend an additional Maths support
class, as required
ASSESSMENT
100% exam, including practical work.
