WHAT ARE THE ENTRY REQUIREMENTS TO STUDY THE IB DIPLOMA?We require a minimum of at least 7 GCSEs at Grades 9-6, including English,Maths and Science.Certain subjects (at both Standard and Higher Level) have particularsubject requirements. For these, see the speci昀椀c subject sections in thisbooklet.HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?All subjects have some form of coursework or internal assessmentcomponent and most have 昀椀nal examinations.The weightings of the coursework vary between subject and level soplease refer to the subject guides in this booklet for speci昀椀cs, howeverstudents have a signi昀椀cant amount of freedom over topics, questions andresearch. Some of the coursework is assessed via 121 oral or presentationwork.All 昀椀nal external written exams take place in May of year two and theresults are published in July (6 weeks before the A-level results!). We alsohold internal exams in May of year one and January of year two.HOW WILL I BE GRADED?All six subjects are scored out of 7 points, meaning whether you studysomething at HL or SL it counts equally towards your 昀椀nal score. Themaximum possible score is 45:seven points for each subject, plus amaximum of three for the Core.In order to pass the Diploma, youneed to achieve a minimum of 24points.10
