The Great Murder Mystery
at The Lost Estate
Kitchen W8
Purveyors of unforgettable experiences, The Lost Estate, are back.
Known for staging sell-out immersive shows (including critically acclaimed experience, The Great Christmas Feast, which was previewed in
KCR) their latest ofering is unlike any other night out in London.
Most of you foodies might be familiar with the culinary destination in
the neighbourhood that is Kitchen W8. Seemingly hidden away just of
Kensington High Street, this stylish restaurant is a perfect spot for some
rather imaginative and high-end Modern European cuisine. It boasts
some rather interesting neighbours such as Design Museum, Holland
Park Opera or Japan House making it the perfect stopover for an artsy
day out. The art extends to its framed art interiors and more importantly the food that graces its menus. Co-owners Rebecca Mascarenhas and
Phil Howard, and the wonderful Chef Mark Kempson are a dream team
that have made this contemporary, Michelin -starred a champion eatery
within the Royal Borough. Chef Kempson is particularly well known for
game and truöes menus and the restaurant9s relaxed-yet-stylish interior
help enjoy the glorious food to the fullest.
Based on a wildly successful previous run and near sell-out opening
months, their cult hit show The Great Murder Mystery is now extending
its dates into June and July. This unique event is an ingenious retelling
of Sherlock Holmes9 most famous case: The Hound of the Baskervilles.
It brings together London9s top chefs, mixologists, actors and musicians in the immersive experience of the year 3 a thrilling feat of one
dining and world-class performance. Unparalleled service is paired with
mind-blowing craft cocktails from the brilliant mind of Head Bartender,
Ilya Demenkov, and martini carts operating an at-seat service can be
seen weaving through the Tifany-lamp-lit tables. Wine connoisseurs
can choose from two curated wine nights (available for pre-order),
meticulously paired to the one dining menu, or nag down The Lost Estate9s resident sommelier for personalised recommendations. The food
is an event all on its own, a decadent three course menu takes visitors
on a gastronomic journey through the onest dining halls of Victorian
London. Masterminded by Head Chef, Ashley Clarke (Gordon Ramsay
Group, Temper Soho, Smokestak), each course is made with high-quality, locally-sourced British ingredients and woven into the heart of the
story unfolding all around you.
The meal starts with an inspired take on Sherlock Holmes9 favourite
meal 3 ham and eggs 3 in the form of house-cured Gressingham duck
ham, conot egg yolk bearnaise and pickled blackberries. Next up is a
spring chicken with black truöe mouse, spring pea tart, Pommes Anna
and chicken scratchings. Finally, a dessert featuring that new-fangled
invention (at least in 1881), ice cream, in the form of a decadent Champagne sorbet atop a Devonshire tart with black sesame and strawberry
compôte. Their stunning vegetarian menu includes an arancini with
ore-roasted tomato, green olive
