Sesame Street Workshop: K is for KC Kindness
This annual conference is an initiative designed to offer strategies, tips, activities and
professional development for providers to nurture parent-child relationships that, in turn,
help children become school-ready, increase physical and emotional well-being, and
develop the resiliency to tackle life’s challenges. This year’s conference explored how caregivers and teachers can help children recognize and regulate their emotions.
Daniel Tiger Be My Neighbor Day
Kansas City PBS’ Be My Neighbor Day was 昀椀lled with family fun hosted in KC’s Power
& Light District. Kids met their favorite PBS KIDS characters, including Daniel Tiger and
Katerina Kittycat from Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood and Donkey Hodie. Attendees took
home free books and other goodies from Kansas City PBS and our community partners.
The event was supported by PNC Grow Up Great.
Raising Readers Workshops
Raising Readers is a workshop series designed for educators and caregivers. Teachers
regularly join the Kansas City PBS education team to unpack subjects ranging from
regulating emotions to the negative effects of racism.
Black & Veatch STEM Mentoring Program
The education team collaborated with Black & Veatch to conduct school visits and host
interactive learning sessions focused on electricity, water, and structural engineering.
Through hands-on activities, students could explore and learn about each of these
subjects. This initiative reached 10 schools and engaged 500 昀椀fth graders.
