Oak Hill Barn - Flipbook - Page 4
DESCRIPTION
From the moment you enter this house via the vast
double doors, the mood is bright, happy, and designed
for family life. Throughout, the internal layout
enhances its connection with the outside. A galleried
landing and timber French doors allow views across
the wide living spaces, while a continuous York stone
paved floor in the statement dining room/hallway
blurs the boundary between indoors and outdoors.
Throughout, the neutral palette is a homely backdrop
that marries universal style with the soul of a classic
barn vernacular. The look is relaxed yet sophisticated.
This property has many agreeable features that are
both practical and stylish, including an exposed brick
wood burning fireplace in the capacious living room
and a useful breakfast/pantry cupboard in the solid oak
hand-built kitchen, but it is the first floor that has a
character of its own. Here, the principal bedroom with
dressing room - located behind a partition wall at the
rear of the bed - and bathroom sits at one side of the
landing gallery. The additional bedrooms are bridged
at the other side; also fitted with built-in cabinetry, en
suites and a bathroom. It is a house for all seasons,
however, especially lovely in summer and at Christmas.
