GARDENS & GROUNDS
While the house is breath-taking, the southwest facing
gardens and grounds of over 20 acres are equally
impressive. An enormous walled garden is backdrop
to the architectural theatre, and as the building
styles contrast, so does the planting. At the front,
magnificent rhododendrons combine with sculptural
palms. At the rear, is a modern arched pergola and
traditional gazebo. A stone water feature by Jeremy
Hastings centres these both. Structures include Jupiter
House folly and a summer house, with a tennis court
in the southwest corner. Mature borders mix with
lawn and meadow, as well as a gardener’s spot on the
far side featuring a large poly tunnel and raised beds.
