GARDENS & GROUNDS
The impressive long avenue of lime trees
underplanted with shrubs and bulbs, leads to an
expansive tarmacadam parking and turning area.
The drive swings left past the back door to a large
three car garage.
The majority of the extensive gardens lies to the
south-facing elevation and consist of a large stone
terrace abutting the entire front façade with access
from the conservatory and study.
There are two formal upper lawns, one having
a large separate terrace at its edge, with a pretty
octagonal summerhouse (with power and light).
This terrace is a wonderful alfresco dining area
and it enjoys lovely, far-reaching views over the
beautifully landscaped gardens to the Macclesfield
hills and the Peak District.
A set of stone steps lead down to a formal circular
rose garden with gravel pathways and fully stocked
rockery connecting the upper lawns to the rose
garden. The rose garden overlooks a wonderful
lily stocked waterfall fed lake with duck house
and banks of rhododendrons surrounding, all
sitting in a pretty wooded dell. A gently sloping
lawn leads down to a wooded wildlife area, with
a path leading to an orchard with fruit cages, and
a woodland walk through mature specimen trees
leading back to the lake.
