GARDENS & GROUNDS
To reach the estate, you enter via a secure gated
entrance and a gravel horseshoe drive leads you to
the imposing façade. There is allocated parking for
two cars. Upon arrival, the feeling is entirely safe
and secure. The rest of the world fades away. Within
the grounds of the house are a series of courtyard
terraces that can be used for private parties or
solitary peace. The communal areas and gardens are
maintained by the National Trust, however, should
you so wish, gardening is welcomed too.
Venture outside and the exquisite Biddulph Grange
gardens, created by horticulturalist James Bateman
for his collection of plants from around the world, are
as enchanting as the house itself. Bateman created a
Grand Tour of exterior tableaus from a Himalayan
glen to Italianate terraces a Victorian vision of China,
featuring rhododendrons that are spectacular in
spring to fiery deciduous trees in autumn. There
is always something to see. Discreet access to the
gardens is permitted to residents, and the 360 views
from tower at Apartment 9 is a privilege.
