Hayling Herald
Dear Readers,
There’s lots of news this month with many major issues on the
Island and beyond which could impact the community.
The loss of Church Meadow to make way for new caravans
has caused upset. How do you balance the need for tourism and
investment into the Island with the needs of local people and
wildlife? Have a read of page 6 and let us know what you think.
It could be the end for the Beachlands arcade. Plans have gone in
to flatten it and turn it into shops and homes. But is it a step too far,
and too close to the sea? See page 8
When Labour came in they vowed to create super councils,
combining local authorities. Find out what devolution will mean for
Hayling on page 7. More on this next month.
Finally, I’m sure all our readers will rejoice with us in the fantastic
news that retired councillor Leah Turner has been made an
Honorary Alderman. She truly deserves this prestigious honour for
working her socks off for Islanders over the years!
Jerry and Elise would like to send heartfelt congratulations to
Leah – a true friend of the Herald and the Island.
