Owners make food donations in
memory of beloved pet pooches

WHEN two families lost their beloved pet dogs at
similar times, they were able to support each other
to deal with the huge sadness and sense of loss.
Hunter, 14, was a terrier of character who enjoyed
his trips to Stanley’s butchers with his owner Jo
Hollingsworth, and any seafront café that offered the
chance of a sausage.
Maggie was a 14-year-old Labrador who loved her
food and being a wellbeing Pets As Therapy (PAT)
dog at Queen Alexandra Hospital, Portsmouth with
her owner Tess Balchin.
Owners Jo and Tess looked for ideas to give the
dogs one last hurrah and they decided to pull together all the now surplus cupboard stores to provide 20 celebration dinners for dogs, consisting of
a tin of dog food, mixer biscuits, treats and a tennis
ball.
They were given to the Community Pantry for
people needing support in these challenging times.
