Our Fantastic Day Out in Runnymede
Maureen Croydon writes:
I enjoyed a nice boat trip
at Runnymede with the
JDA group. We sailed
along the waterways
there and admired the
lovely views from the
boat.
The Captain showed
us how the roof of the
boat is lowered as it
approaches the lock on the river. It was so low,
it was almost touching the top of our heads.
The Captain also moved over and let some of the
members drive the boat. Anthony Spielsinger and
Ann Hart both took turns in sitting in the driver’s
seat and steering.
Two Deaf people entertained us with the song
‘row, row, row your boat’ and did the actions of
rowing a boat, encouraging us to join in the fun
and laughter!
The next stop was The Savill Gardens, a charming
ornamental garden, where we enjoyed a nice stroll
admiring the exotic 昀氀owers and plants in full bloom.

JDA volunteers pushed the older members around
the gardens in their wheelchairs, so everyone
could enjoy the beauty of the place.
We then walked round the fabulous gift shop.
It was huge! There were so many lovely things
to look at. We bought hats, sweets and greeting
cards.
After this, we were all ready for our delicious
cream tea of scones, jam and cream.
It was my 昀椀rst outing with JDA and I really had an
enjoyable and lovely day!
